A unique work by John Atkinson Grimshaw (1836-1893) depicting an idyllic landscape somewhere in Europe, two lovers hugging, without even recognizing their faces or their clothes in the dark background.

The artist uniquely highlights the aura of the landscape, with the spontaneous feeling of two people taking advantage of the beauty and tranquility of the landscape to embrace and share unique moments.

This particular post-Victorian English painter became known for his nighttime paintings and for the urban and country landscapes that always combined them harmoniously.
